Routt County Alcohol Council
The Council contacted us to upgrade their Access 97 database to the current version of Access. We have to first move the database into Access 2003, and then into Access 2019 (365). The was further complicated due to a workgroup information file protecting the Access 97 database and then advanced vba code that needed modification.
We are frustrated that Microsoft does not provide a transparent upgrade path from Access 97 directly to Access 365 (or whatever current version of Access is out today). We are further frustrated that Access discontinues support of features such as workgroup information files, pivot tables/report, Access Data Projects. So clients are forced to contact consultants like Data Control. We realize the importance of your database and the dilemma you are in. So we try to fairly price the upgrade to the new version of Access hoping that we can get future development work from you.
To get around the Workgroup Information File issue (the client had no documentation of this which is understandable considering the database is 20 years old and the original developer long gone), we opened a new Access 2003 database and imported all of the objects. This then allowed us to open the Access 2003 database in Access 2007 and perform the final upgrade steps.
This particular database uses advanced VBA code and expected the data file to be in a particular position on the server. If the data file wasn't there, the reports didn't work. So we searched through the code removing this requirement. We also had to modify a few of the libraries

Bravo Wines is an importer from Harrisonburg, Virginia. They asked us to modify their Access database which integrates with Quickbooks
Bravo Imports Wine mostly from Italy and sells, through agents, to restaurants and markets including Kroger. This database application provides both a web page for entering orders as well as Quickbooks integration for creating invoices from those orders and updating current inventory and product lists. This is accomplished through an ODBC connection directly to Quickbooks.
Agents and Items are managed through the Access database which communicates with the Website via MySQL connection (attached tables in the Access database). When Agents place orders, those order are viewed in the Access database, massaged and approved. Again through the use of attached MySQL tables.

Blue Ridge Products, an internet storeplace to purchase products, hired us to perform FTP integration with Access 2013. Blue Ridge creates orders and FTPs those orders to various warehouses including Amazon's warehouses to further process those orders.
Blue Ridge is an import company in Richmond, Virginia that creates their own products, has them produced in China, imports those products to the United States and sells (mostly) through Amazon.
This Access database is the central backbone for the company. It details all of the products, sales of those products, forecasts of the product sales, tracks current inventor levels etc.
In addition to integrating with FTP software, this database has complex integration with Excel, both importing/massaging excel files as well as producing Excel files for both the company's internal personnel as well as the various warehouses used by the company.

One of our former Capital One clients moved to a staffing firm in Raleigh, North Carolina. As Chief Financial Officer at this new firm, he re engaged us to build an Access Database to track Purchase Orders and Timesheet information. Ease of use and quickness in handling large amounts of imported Excel data into this Access database is key for this finance/accounting department to generate their monthly invoices while staying within the budgets if each individual purchase order. This Access database imports Excel Spreadsheets full of monthly time. This time is then applied to existing, budgeted Purchase Orders. As the budget limits of the Purchase Order is reached, the user is notified that the PO is in jeopardy of being exceeded. At that point, individual time records may be split (internal access functionality that reduces and appends) amongst additional Pos. Furthermore, this mission critical Access Database also has a series of reports that allow the users to see which Pos are in Jeopardy of expiring based on the average billings/day and the number of days left in the Purchase Order contract. Lastly this administrative Access database runs Excel Exports for creating the actual invoice that is sent to this staffing firm's clients.

We took over the Access database, enforced naming conventions, developed easy to use navigation forms and maintenance tables. Now this conveyor manufacturer has a backbone database application that provides completion timeline information to the engineering departments, the manufacturing departments, the finance departments and the sales department. A calendar is created for everyone to see. Huge printouts showing all current projects and the people needed to sign off are printed out and put up throughout the facility. We hope to replace these with direct feeds to monitors.

This is a Quality tracking and improvement Access database for a manufacturing firm: Greystone in Toano, VA (near Westpoint and Williamsburg).
This application receives multiple excel files throughout the day that are produced from quality control machiney in the plant. The excel files are imported to the Access database automatically.
The Access database scrolls through the excel files, parsing out the relevant information from the excel file and appends the relevant data points to a table that is then used to run monthly and quarterly quality control reports.
The data is pertinent to the automobile manufacturing process and determines which production batches should or should not be accepted for Greystones automobile manufacturing clients.

This Access Database handles the entire process of purchasing and inventorying all items on the base including all test equipment used at the Naval Research Laboratory. We all use hand scanner so complete physical inventories on base that stores/forwards information to the Access Database.
